    Lao PDR’s WTO membership edges closer to reality before ASEM summit

    WTOThe 9th Session of the Working Party Meeting on WTO Accession of Lao PDR was held at 10 AM of 12 July 2012 at the WTO Head Office, in Geneva, Switzerland. Dr. Nam Viyaketh, Minister of Insdustry and Commerce along with 14 delegates from relevant sectors including Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Justice and the Bank of Lao PDR, attended the meeting.

    Lao trade portal aims to ease import, export barriers

    LTPThe Ministry of Industry and Commerce has unveiled a portal which provides local and foreign businesses with guidelines on the import and export of goods. Industry and Commerce Minister Dr Nam Vinhaket, local and international senior officials yesterday cut a digital ribbon to launch the Lao Trade Portal in Vientiane, marking a significant milestone in Laos' preparations to join the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
