This enquiry point is set up under the Decree on the Notification and Enquiry of Trade-Related Information No. 363/PM, dated 19 August 2010 and the Decision on GATS Enquiry Point No. 0349/MOIC.FTPD, dated 22 February 2011.
The General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) is one of WTO Agreements that sets out the principles and rules for the purpose of liberalization of trade in services. This agreement is the outcome of the Uruguay Round and entered into force in 1995 in response to the economic growth and potential of trade in services. Transparency requirement is one of the most important principles under GATS and can be implemented through notification and enquiry points that provide information.
GATS Enquiry Point is located at the Foreign Trade Policy Department, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. It has main duties to receive and answer questions on trade in services from WTO members.
